B.R. Winery is pleased to announce the release of our 2008 Olive Hill Estate Malbec. On Dec 11th and 12th, tasting room guests will be treated to holiday hors d’oeuvres and a complementary tasting of this fantastic Malbec.


MalbecThe 2008 Olive Hill Estate Malbec was produced with grapes grown exclusively from our Olive Hill Estate Vineyards in the heart of the Sonoma Valley. Underground natural hot springs warm the soil, and gentle ocean breezes create a unique micro-climate perfectly suited for growing this unique Bordeaux variety. An exclusive bottling of only 100 cases were made, so get it now before it is gone!

Our Malbec is filled with bright plum, cherry, and berry aromas surrounded by a bouquet of spice, violet, and cedar, making this vintage one to remember. It was aged in only the best tight-grain French oak barrels. I hope you enjoy this wine as much as my family and I do.

Sonoma Valley is announcing the 5th annual Gingerbread Winery contest. Throughout the month of December, visit our tasting room see our new Gingerbread house. Pick up a map and a ballot and vote for your favorite gingerbread house in participating Sonoma Valley wineries. Each time voters cast a ballot you will be entered into a raffle to win a case of Sonoma Valley wines.

Do you have a favorite holiday meal recipe your family & friends raves about? We wanted to give our fans a chance to create their own recipe ideas featuring any of B.R. Cohn’s gourmet olive oil, vinegars, mustards, rubs or tapenades. Email your recipe for a chance to win B.R. Cohn Gourmet Olive Oil & Vinegar gift packs.

How to Enter:

  • Email a recipe of your own creation to contest@brcohn.com
  • Be sure to include: ingredients list, preparation steps, serving count and cooking time. Extra points if it pairs with one of our wines!
  • Email a photo of the prepared dish as an extra (but not necessary)

Judging:
We are looking for recipes that showcase B.R. Cohn gourmet foods and wines with unique and tasty dishes. Winners will be selected by B.R. Cohn from eligible entries and contacted directly by email to collect their prize.

Prizes:
1st prize: Wooden Gift Set with your choice of (3) 200ml olive oils and/or vinegars.
2nd prize: Wooden Gift Set with your choice of (2) 200ml olive oils and/or vinegars.

Guidelines:

10th Annual Sonoma Valley Olive Season

Put some holiday sparkle in your spirit with a visit to Sonoma Valley this winter season. From December through February, our annual Olive Season lights up the Valley with a three-month-long celebration as we toast all things olive. A great time to come visit wine country and learn about Sonoma's olives, wine and cuisine culture. A visit to B.R. Cohn allows you to discover our rare 140 year old Picholine olive trees that grace the grounds around the winery. Featured Recipe with paired wine and gourmet food

Orange Olive Oil Cake with Berries & Cream

Preparation Time: 30-55 minutes
Serves: 6
Pairs with Boater's Barbera

  • 5 eggs
  • 1 1/2 Oranges, zested
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 cups B.R. Cohn Mandarin Orange Olive Oil
  • 2 1/8 cups cake flour, sifted
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 pint blueberries
  • crème fraiche
  • powdered sugar and mint leaves for garnish

Download Recipe CardPreheat oven to 325°. Place eggs, zest and sugar in a stand mixer with whisk attachment. Whisk on medium speed for 1 minute. Reduce speed to low and add B.R. Cohn Mandarin Orange Olive Oil in slow, continuous stream. In a mixing bowl, stir together dry ingredients, add to egg mixture in three batches, whisking at low speed throughout just until batter is smooth and even. Rob inside of six mini-Bundt pans with film of olive oil and fill with batter until pans are nearly full. Bake mini-Bundts for 25 minutes or 10-inch cake for 50 minutes. Cake is done when a toothpick inserted into thickest part comes out dry. Serve on individual plates with blueberries and a dollop of crème fraiche. Garnish with powdered sugar and mint leaves.
